Juan Pablo Pina Hospital

The hospital is located at calle Santome #42, about 10 minutes walk (8 blocks) from the central plaza and 30minutes west of Santo Domingo. The hospital was named after the Dominican patriot Juan Pablo Pina (1814 - 1876).  It was built after Hurricane San Zenon hit the area in 1930. It was initially a 10 bed hospital.  In 1945 a newer hospital of 250 beds was built on its present location.
